Thieves Make Off With Trailer Full Disneyland Passes Worth Nearly $1 Million

Someone hitched a truck to a trailer near a conference early April 17 and apparently took off with $800,000 worth of Disneyland passes intended for high schoolers.

The California Highway Patrol is looking for a dark pickup truck that picked up the trailer — which also contained hundreds of thousands of dollars of audio visual equipment for the California Future Farmers of America (FFA) conference scheduled for next week — just after 3 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Surveillance footage shows the truck pulling into a parking lot and departing with the trailer minutes later.

“They had definitely been scoping it out because they went directly to the trailer and didn’t waste any time doing anything else,” California FFA Executive Director Matt Patton said.

The FFA intended to give the Disneyland tickets out to the more than 7,000 youths attending the four-day leadership conference, which includes a trip to the famous Anaheim, Calif., theme park.

The Disneyland tickets have already been voided and the park has issued new tickets, Disney spokeswoman Liz Jaeger said. The equipment — worth between $15,000 and $20,000, and about $12,000 of FFA-branded mugs, clothing and other swag — has not been recovered.

“We recommend that guests purchase tickets only from Disneyland resort or an authorized retailer,” Jaeger added. The stolen day-passes to Disneyland would be easy to recognize — each one is imprinted with “California FFA Association.”
